Chris Clary is the Associate Director for Career Development at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont where she directs career services for students.  She also heads up the Study Skills Program and is the College’s Prelaw Advisor.  Chris has served as Chair of the Saint Michael’s Women’s Caucus and is a member of the Women’s Center Advisory Board, the Enrollment Management Committee, and the Multicultural Programming Committee.  She is a former member of the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.  She is also a member of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).

A native of Pelham, New York and daughter of former Mt. St. Michael’s coaching legend Howie Smith, Chris graduated from Pelham Memorial High School where she played tennis, field hockey and lacrosse.  She has a B.A. in English from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and an M.Ed. from Saint Michael’s College.   Chris currently resides in Essex, Vermont where she has been involved in refugee resettlement efforts and youth sports, including Essex Youth Basketball and Essex Town Swim Team. She is a former President of Essex Town Little League.

Chris is married to noted Shakespeare scholar and Saint Michael’s College professor of English, F. Nick Clary.  They have two grown sons.
